Norton Internet Security (NIS) is the recommended firewall application for RezOvation software. NIS is easy to use, and features fully automatic configuration. In most cases, you will not need to configure the firewall at all in order for RezOvation to work.

Configuring the firewall for automatic access
Normally, RezOvation software should be automatically detected and configured. If this does not occur, then you should confirm that Norton Internet Security is set to allow automatic access.
- Open Norton Internet Security from the Start menu.
- Select the Options link on the left, and select Norton Internet Security.
- Select the Personal Firewall link, and select General Settings. Go to the Firewall Processing section, and select Automatically decide what to do.
Configuring manually for RezOvation Desktop
If RezOvation Desktop is not automatically detected by the firewall, you will need to configure it manually.
- Open Norton Internet Security from the Start menu.
- Select the Options link on the left, and select Norton Internet Security.
- Select the Personal Firewall link, and select Program Control. Click the Add button.
- Browse to the installation directory for RezOvation Desktop. Select the RezOvation Desktop executable to add and click on the Open button to add the program.
- The Program Control dialog will appear. Select "Manually configure Internet access", and click OK.
- The Add Rule dialog will appear. Click Allow, and click Next.
- Select "Connections to and from other computers", and click Next.
- Select "Any computer", and click Next.
- For the option "The protocol you want to allow", select "TCP and UDP". For the option "What types of communication do you want to allow", select "All types ...". Click Next.
- You do not need to create a log entry, so just click Next.
- Name the rule "RezOvation Desktop", and click Next.
- Click Finish.
- The Program Rules dialog will appear. Click OK.
Configuring manually for RezOvation GT
- Open Norton Internet Security from the Start menu.
- Select the Options link on the left, and select Norton Internet Security.
- Select the Personal Firewall link, and select Program Control. Click the Add button.
- Browse to the installation directory for RezOvation GT. Select the RezOvation GT executable to add and click on the Open button to add the program.
- The Program Control dialog will appear. Select "Manually configure Internet access", and click OK.
- The Add Rule dialog will appear. Click Allow, and click Next.
- Select "Connections to and from other computers", and click Next.
- Select "Any computer", and click Next.
- For the option "The protocol you want to allow", select "TCP and UDP". For the option "What types of communication do you want to allow", select "All types ...". Click Next.
- You do not need to create a log entry, so just click Next.
- Name the rule "RezOvation GT", and click Next.
- Click Finish.
- The Program Rules dialog will appear. Click OK.
- Repeat steps 3~13 until all RezOvation GT related executables are added to the firewall. Note: if you are installing the firewall on a network client, rather than the main computer, then you only need to allow access for the RezOvationGT.exe, which is typically located in c:\rezovationgt or c:\program files\rezovation\rezovation gt\.

Configuring the firewall for use with a network
If you are using RezOvation software in a networked environment (e.g. you have a main computer that contains the database, and other computers connect to this database over the network), then you may need to configure Norton Internet Security to allow network access.
By default, NIS should be configured to enable network access, but in some cases, this function may not work. While RezOvation support cannot assist with this configuration, there are other resources available to you:

Disabling the firewall
- Open Norton Internet Security from the Start menu.
- Select the Options link on the left, and select Norton Internet Security.
- Select the Personal Firewall link, and select General Settings. Go to the Firewall Protection section, select Off, and click Apply.
- Select the duration for which you would like to disable the firewall, and click OK.
