This article reviews system requirements and prerequisites for RezOvation GT.

Hardware Requirements
Please note: Netbooks (i.e. small, lightweight laptops intended for light computer use such as surfing the internet, email, etc.), are NOT recommended for RezOvation GT and do not meet the minimum requirements.
Follow the "recommended hardware" guidelines for best performance.
Single Computer Installation
Recommended Hardware
- Processor: Dual-core 2.0 Ghz or faster
- Memory: 2 GB
- Hard Drive: 20 GB free disk space; 7200 RPM drive (most desktop computers will have this -- if you are purchasing a laptop you may need to ask specifically for a faster drive)
Minimum Hardware
- Processor: Pentium IV 2.4 Ghz or equivalent
- Memory: 1 GB
- Hard Drive: 20 GB free disk space
Multiple Computer Installation
Main computer (server)
The main computer in a network installation is the computer that has the RezOvation GT database and primary application (RezOvation service).
Recommended Hardware
- Processor: Dual-core 2.0 Ghz or faster
- Memory: 2 GB
- Hard Drive: 20 GB free disk space; 7200 RPM drive (most desktop computers will have this -- if you are purchasing a laptop you may need to ask specifically for a faster drive)
Minimum Hardware
- Processor: Pentium IV 2.4 Ghz or equivalent
- Memory: 1 GB
- Hard Drive: 20 GB free disk space
Secondary computer (client)
The secondary computer is any computer on the network that needs access to RezOvation GT, but which does not run the database. This computer typically does not need as much CPU power or memory as the main computer.
- Processor: Pentium IV 2.4 Ghz or equivalent
- Memory: 512 MB
- Hard Drive: 1 GB free disk space
Software Requirements
Operating System
The following operating systems are supported:
- Windows 7 - 32 bit and 64 bit
- Windows Vista - 32 bit and 64 bit (all service packs)
- Windows XP Service Pack 2
- Windows XP Service Pack 3
- Windows 2003 Server - 32 bit and 64 bit (all service packs)
- Windows 2008 Server - 32 bit and 64 bit

Office applications
Note: either Open Office or Microsoft Office is required to view or print letters, preview emails, and print the occupancy map. You must use the same software on all computers in your network -- you cannot mix both Open Office and Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office is recommended. Only Word and Excel are required; Outlook is not needed.
The following office applications are supported:
- Microsoft Office 2000
- Microsoft Office 2002 / XP
- Microsoft Office 2003
- Microsoft Office 2007

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition
- If not present, SQL Server 2008 Express is installed automatically along with RezOvation GT.
- This is NOT required for client computers in a network configuration of RezOvation GT.
- If necessary, you can manually install SQL Server 2008 Express Edition. However, it is recommended that you allow RezOvation GT to install SQL Express.
Microsoft .NET Framework
- If not present, .NET 3.5 is automatically installed along with RezOvation GT.
- .NET 3.5 is required for all computers in a network configuration.
- It is recommended that you allow RezOvation GT to automatically install the correct version of .NET. Alternatively, you can install .NET from one of these locations:
- via Windows Update (select the section for optional software updates)
- From the Microsoft website
Other software
- Windows Installer 4.5. This is installed automatically with RezOvation GT. Alternatively, you can install it manually.
Optional Items
- High-speed Internet with a minimum connection speed of 256k upload / 256k download (required for online availability and auto updates; dial-up is not supported). We recommend DSL, cable, T1, or better.
- Credit card swiper (for credit card processing users)
General Notes
- Installation is NOT supported on a Windows domain controller (PDC). Domain controllers are not intended to run applications, and can cause conflicts with programs like RezOvation GT which a SQL database to run.
- Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP1 are no longer supported with new installs as of April 2009. This is due to the fact that the installer now uses SQL Express 2008, which does not support these operating systems.
- All available Windows Updates should be installed before RezOvation GT is installed.
- The .NET 3.5 Framework is required for all computers in a network installationm including secondary (client) computers. SQL Express is required only for the server.
- Installation alongside SQL Server 2000 is not supported. Issues with database connections cannot be properly researched in this configuration.
- Installation with SQL Server 2005 / SQL Server 2008 is supported and will work properly. SQL Express 2005 / 2008 is identical to SQL Server 2005 / 2008 with some functional limitations, e.g. 4 GB database limit, 1 GB memory use, 1 CPU.
